Belper School to close from next week due to coronavirus
Belper School has announced it will be closed from Monday, March 23 because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The school will be closed until at least the end of the Easter holidays but this could be extended if national guidance changes.
Head teacher Nick Goforth said the decision to close was down to ‘national guidance around social distancing, rapidly increasing levels of student illness and worsening staffing issues due to self-isolation.
Work will provided to all students before closure as well as resources/links to work on the school’s website.
Additionally, extra revision materials will provided for year 11 and year 13 students who have upcoming exams.
The school will offer a supervised self-study session each day from 9am to 2pm for any children whose parents work in the NHS or other first responder services.
To register your child for this, email details of your role, place of work and your child/children’s names to [email protected] by 9am on Friday, March 20.
A written note with the same details will be fine if email is not available.
For safety reasons, the school will only admit students whose parents have contacted the school.
