A spokesperson for Chesterfield Royal Hospital told the Derbyshire Times today: “We currently have 10 Covid-19 patients in – the lowest since the start of the outbreak.
“We have reduced our incident response to one ward, but obviously have the ability to escalate again should cases start to rise – as widely predicted and as already seen in other areas of the country.”
The spokesperson added: “We continue to restore and recover critical services – urgent cancer services in particular – initiating social distancing measures which is proving challenging in some areas, but we have solutions in place; for example, patients wait in their cars and are contacted to come in when another patient has started treatment.

“We continue to try and reduce footfall to prevent infection spread.
“Covid-19 is still a high alert situation and by all of us doing all we can, we’ll hopefully continue to see infection reduce.”
