No new coronavirus deaths recorded at Chesterfield Hospital for one week

There have been no new coronavirus deaths recorded at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for the seventh consecutive day, according to the latest NHS England figures.

Since the pandemic hit 129 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died at the Royal. As of 4pm on Sunday, 14 June there have been 433 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the town.

Nationally, a further 28 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,982. That is the lowest daily increase since 21 March, before the lockdown was announced two days later.

The patients were aged between 59 and 100 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.

The government has announced 144,865 coronavirus tests were carried out in the 24 hours up to 9am on Sunday – the latest available data.

A spokesperson for Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed the UK’s testing capacity is currently 227,455.
