Staff member tests positive for Covid-19 at Derbyshire school

A school in Derbyshire has confirmed that one of its staff members has tested positive for Covid-19, but the headteacher says ‘no further action’ is necessary at this stage.

Parents and carers of pupils at The Bolsover School, on Mooreacre Lane, received a letter from headteacher Matthew Hall on Tuesday, October 6, advising them of the case.

Mr Hall said: “I am writing to inform you that there has been a confirmed COVID-19 case within The Bolsover School staff body.

"We know that you may find this concerning however, we have been working closely with Public Health England and the Department for Education and are pleased to report that

due to the robust risk assessment and control measures in place within our school, no further action is necessary at this stage.

"The school can remain open for all other students and staff. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the official Government guidance in relation to COVID-19 to ensure that you and your families stay as safe as possible at all times.”

Mr Hall urged parents and carers to keep their children at home for at least 10 days if they develop symptoms.

He added: “I fully appreciate that you may have concerns following reading this letter however, I assure you we will continue to do our very best for our children, families and local community in these challenging times.

"Please have comfort in knowing that we have our students’ and staff’s safety and well-being at the heart of our work.”
