The area of Chesterfied that has been virtually Covid free for the past week

Infection rates have been steadily decreasing in Chesterfield- especially in one particular area which has been virtually Covid free for the past week.

The most recent data published by the government, available to view on an interactive map, shows there have been less than three cases recorded in Boythorpe and Birdholme in the week leading to February 10.

This was also the case for the nearby neighbourhoods of Bakewell North, Baslow and Calver.

For smaller areas with fewer than three cases the Government does not reveal the exact number of cases in order to protect individuals' identities.

The figures show that surrounding areas that have seen a significant drop in cases include Brookside and Walton, Loundsley Green and Holme Hall, Dunston and Newbold.

Infection rates continue to fall across the town- according to the latest figures for the seven days to February 10, there were 180 new cases per 100,000 people in Chesterfield compared to 189 the week before.
