Spotlight shines on 16 Derbyshire school plays and amateur theatre shows in times gone by

Many months have passed since audiences have been able to cram into a school hall or community centre in Derbyshire to watch a play or a musical.

The coronavirus pandemic has scuppered plans for live shows of any kind for a year….and performers young and old must be itching to get back up on stage just as soon as they can after lockdown eases on May 17.

Presenting an amateur show is a labour of love. Weeks of unpaid work go into learning lines, rehearsals, making costumes and scenery for just a few nights of being able to present the end result to the public

Here we take a look back at some of the productions that have delighted Derbyshire audiences.
