With restorations reaching their final stages at the former Herbert Strutt School’s library we hark back to one of the earliest pictures taken at the institution for our main bygones picture this week.

Thought to date from 1919, three girl pupils pose for the camera. At that time, the headmaster was Mr W W Tunnicliffe, who was appointed in February 1909 and served in that post until his retirement in 1936. We love to receive your Memory Lane pictures and hear your recollections about the ones we feature. Send them in to 8 Heanor Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 8ER. Email them to editor@belpernews.co.uk or drop them off at community postbox, News Corner, King Street, Belper.
