Bookings now open as Chesterfield pubs prepare to reopen beer gardens

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has revealed his roadmap out of lockdown, providing a series of key tests are met, such as falling coronavirus rates.
The phased reopening of the country includes a number of key dates, with outdoor hospitality set to reopen from Monday, April 12.

Hide AdThe Government says that, provisionally from April 12, “hospitality venues can serve people outdoors only”.
It says: “There will be no need for customers to order a substantial meal with alcohol, and no curfew – although customers must order, eat and drink while seated.”
The Tupton Tap, Derby Road, Old Tupton, is now accepting bookings for tables in its beer garden.
Posting on its Facebook page, it said: “As of April 12, Government depending, we’ll be opening our garden for drinks and our new food menu – all table service.

Hide Ad“We are accepting advance bookings now – tables can be booked in one-hour slots, but you can book as many hours as you need.
“We’re so excited to welcome you all back! It’s been a while.”
We want to be open
Brimming with Beer, Chesterfield Road, Brimington, is currently preparing its outdoor area.
A spokesman said: “We’re cracking on oiling our new outdoor tables for reopening, because, come hell or high water, we want to be open on April 12.”

Hide AdThe Rose and Crown, Old Road, Brampton, is also aiming to open as soon as possible.
A spokesman said: “While the wheels are slowly starting to turn again at the Rose, we are cautiously optimistic about the date for reopening outdoors.
“We are aiming to reopen outdoors as soon as we are allowed to do so.
“We are working hard behind the scenes to make things as comfortable and as safe as possible, and we cannot wait to welcome you all back.”

Hide AdAnd pub chain JD Wetherspoon has revealed it will be opening beer gardens and patios at 394 of its pubs from April 12, including: Waggon and Horses, King Street, Alfreton; The Pillar of Rock, Castle Street, Bolsover; and The Portland Hotel, Low Pavement, Chesterfield town centre. There will not be a booking system.
John Hutson, Wetherspoon chief executive, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming our customers and staff back to our pubs.”
