We travel back in time more than 150 years for this week’s yesteryear picture of King Street, Belper.

You can clearly see shops & houses to either side and a bridge which used to span across the street linking theStrutt family house, Green Hall to their gardens .

Nowadays, Green Lane car park is on the site of Green Hall and the gardens are now the Memorial Gardens. The bridge, which was built in 1831 was demolished in 1867. This picture dates from circa 1860.

We love to receive your Memory Lane pictures and hear your recollections about theones we feature. Send them in to or post them to 8 Heanor Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 8ER.
