Two smartly dressed workers proudly pose for a picture in the depths of Belper Mill as a newly completed turbine kicks into operation.
Nowadays the two turbines at the East Mill have a combined capacity of 209 kW. This picture shows workers circa 1935 and we would love to hear from anybody who can tell us more about its origins, the two men pictured or anybody who has their own mill memories to share.
All three Memory Lane pictures this week come courtesy of Picture the Past – a not-for-profit project that aims to make historic images from the library and museum collections across the whole of Derby and Derbyshire available via a completely free-to-use website.
