Alterations at Lady Hilton’s old manor

Plans for alterations to a manor which belonged to the late Lady Hilton have been submitted to Amber Valley Borough Council.

Alton Manor in Idridgehay was home to Lady Winifred Hilton for more than 50 years until her death, aged 91, last year.

Applicant William Harrison is now seeking permission for a spiral staricase, repositioning of doorways and removal of a wall to form a new kitchen area at the 1846 house.

The Grade II listed manor, set in 26 acres, was home to the Derbyshire Festival, which Lady Hilton held annually and was visited by the Queen in 1992.
