Apprenticehips for young people

Forty-five young people will land an apprenticeships with Derbyshire County Council, including jobs as electricians, plumbers and in catering.

Apprenticships on offer includes ones in health and social care in Alfreton and Belper, business administration in Ripley and landscape construction and as an estimator in Denby.

Councillor Brian Ridgway, said: “There are almost 3,200 unemployed young people in Derbyshire and we want to do all we can to find a brighter future for as many as possible.

“Apprenticeships offer a great way into the world of work and this year we’ve got a great selection on offer.”

A series of events have been organised for young people and their families to find out more about apprenticeships on offer.

Would-be apprentices can also take in part in workshops on how to complete application forms and prepare for interviews. They include oness on pril 28, from 3pm to 7pm at County Hall, Matlock, DE4 3AG

There is also one on May 9 from 3pm to 7pm at Wilmot Street Centre, Heanor, DE75 7EF

Applications close on May 18 and all apprenticeships will start in September 2014.

There are also apprenticeships available as a nursery nurse, engineering maintenance surveyor, road workers and recycling promotions. Other venues for positions include in Matlock, Long Eaton, Ilkeston, Sandiacre and Chapel-en-le-Frith.
