THE The Arkwright Society has announced it will open its Wheatcroft’s Wharf cafe on the Cromford Canal in the evenings from now until September.
The café has extended its hours through until 9pm Tuesday to Sunday from May to September in a bid to attract evening walker.
All of the profits raised from the venture go back into the charity which will be launching a major £20 million international fundraising campaign in the Spring of 2012.
Chief Executive Sarah McLeod said: “Over the past two years the team here has been working incredibly hard to produce a fantastic master plan for the site which aims to see the site fully regenerated over the coming decade as a world class tourist destination as well as a hub for new innovative businesses. We will, of course, be applying to major funders for grants but we intend to raise as much money as we can through our own efforts and trading. Wheatcroft’s provides a much needed evening dining destination and the setting couldn’t be more perfect on a summer evening.”
The café serves a selection of imaginative summer salads, soups, panini’s and special summer “platters for two”. Customers can wash it down with fine wine or the charity’s very own Arkwright’s Ale.
