A LOCAL artist, known for her lively murals at the Belper Cottage Project, has a new venture in the town.
Sheila Guyatt, who lives in Belper, has inspired local artists to take part in a three-day weekend of Open Houses, when there will be about a dozen venues to visit. People interested in art will be able to see portraits, ceramics, textiles, paintings, canal art, stained glass and other work on display and for sale in private houses around the town.
Sheila will be opening her house and showing her own work. She said: “We want to make art available to everyone.” Keep an eye out for posters and leaflets in local shops and the Ritz cinema, on King Street. The Open Houses event is from Saturday, May 28 until Monday, May 30.
