Audio bills offered to dyslexic customers

Water giant Severn Trent has started sending bills out on audio CD to help customers who have dyslexia.

The company, which supplies most of Derbyshire with water and sewage services, came up with the idea after being contacted by a customer with the learning difficulty.

The customer asked if Severn Trent could come up with a way to help him and other people with dyslexia understand letters and bills.

The firm met with the customer who explained he would like the information to go to his computer so that he would find it easier to read and have an audio copy on CD, which he could listen to.

Following this meeting and in partnership with its business partner, E-Com, Severn Trent developed a way of sending bills and letters using computer software and audio CD.
