Authority’s vehicle hunt

BELPER Town Council has set a limit of £20,000 as it searches for a new works vehicle.

The authority’s current vehicle, which is used by workers based on the Coppice car park in the town, is becoming worn out.

Cllr Alan Cox said: “It is eight years old and has done a lot of work. It is the only vehicle we have got.”

The van is used by workers when they carry out jobs such as gritting and watering flowerbeds.

At a meeting of the town council it was agreed that a new, or second-hand, vehicle should be sought.

But Cllr Cox stressed: “The £20,000 is a limit, not a target.”
