A popular Belper wedding venue is offering one lucky couple the chance to win a wedding package worth thousands of pounds – to help celebrate ten years in business.
Award-winning country house Shottle Hall hosted its first wedding on May 27 2006, when former Derby County footballer Rory Delap married his wife Helen.
After holding almost 1,000 other weddings, the family-run venue is offering the house or marquee completely free of charge in a prize worth more than £5,000.
The hall, which is situated in the Chatsworth Estate, was named the best wedding venue in Derbyshire in an online poll of Derby Telegraph readers two years ago.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary Shottle Hall is also throwing open its doors to prospective brides and grooms, where they will also be able to win exclusive money-off deals.
Visitors to the event, which will be staged on June 5 from 11.30am to 4.30pm, will also receive a free glass of bubbly and a tour of the house.
Weddings and events manager Sarah Davis, said: “We wanted to do something really special to celebrate our tenth anniversary, and since we’ve been making dreams come true for the last decade, offering the chance to win a dream wedding seemed like the perfect prize.
“It seems hard to believe that we have been in business for ten years and by the end of this year we will have held 1,000 weddings, yet I can honestly say that no two have been the same.
“In the last decade we’ve welcomed stars including Jessica Ennis-Hill, Colin Firth and the former Bond girl Honor Blackman. We’ve had brides walk down the aisle with their dog, grooms arrive by helicopter and the hall has even been used as the setting for Sky One’s television show Starlings.
“We’re looking forward to the next ten years and hope that whoever wins the anniversary wedding will come back in the year 2026 for a double celebration with us.”
To be in with a chance of winning one of the weddings, couples must attend Shottle Hall’s birthday celebration and complete a form – explaining in no more than 200 words why they would like to win.
The couple will be able to choose whether to tie the knot inside the historic Victorian hall itself, in the newly-refurbished Coach House Ceremony Room, or in an outdoor ceremony pavilion.
