a NEW record was set at a garden party in Heage as £3,700 was raised for charity.
The annual bash, at 57 Ripley Road, was in aid of children’s charity Action Medical Research.
Last year’s party raised £3,500 for the charity.
The afternoon of fun was opened by Action Medical Research mascot Paddington Bear, Dr Tracey Mills, who is a grant holder for the charity, and local midwife Lynne Ayre.
Activities included pony and trap rides, penalty shoot-outs, skittles, line dancing and raffles, among many other things.
Liz Allan, one of the event organisers, said: “It was fantastic. A huge thankyou to all who helped, all the businesses that supported us, and all the community, who turned out in force.
“Also a big thankyou to Jean and Glyn Fardoe, whose house we used, and their neighbours Ann and Alan Bourne. It was a cracking day.”
