THE STAR of this week’s Rescue Me feature is a young mum on the lookout for a new home.

Spaniel crossbreed Belle was taken in by the RSPCA centre in Derby with her eight puppies.

Karen Carter, communities manager at the centre, says Belle is a loving girl and will be best suited to a calm house with older children.

She also knows her basic commands and will sit for you, said Karen.

Belle isn’t the only dog at the Abbey Street centre, there are many more who need a loving home.

And, as well as dogs, there are cats, guinea pigs, mice, rats, birds and rabbits.

To arrange a visit call the centre on 01332 344620.

Its reception is open from 10am to 4pm, with animal viewings available from 12 midday to 4pm. The centre is open six days a week and is closed on Wednesdays.
