the star status is rising for a talented rock band from Belper — because they have been nominated for two prestigious awards.

The James Warner Prophecies are a four-piece outfit that are aiming for the top.

And they are certainly doing something right after being nominated in two categories of the Pure Rawk awards, which are for new, unsigned and breaking talent.

Their song ‘Fell’ is up for Best Single, while 20-year-old Dan Williams is up for Best Drummer.

Dan said: “It feels really, really good to be nominated. We just need people to vote for us now.

“And it is nice to be recognised for my drumming.”

Alongside Dan in the band are Joe Brown, 28, on vocals and guitar, Thom Millington, 25, on bass, and Kate Rounding, 33, on flute and keyboard. They are managed by Andy Pearson, 33.

The band, who have been in their current line-up for almost two years, have supported famous names such as Supergrass and The Blockheads. They have also had their music aired on a rock radio station in Canada, two stations in south California, and on college and university stations in the UK.

Andy said: “The aim is to make it big and gain the attention of the bigger music industry. People are saying they like us because we are different.”

Voting is open now at and ends on Monday, February 21.
