Businesses in Belper are being urged to support a unique fundraising challenge to raise money for their local hospice.

Treetops Hospice is looking for 100 businesses to each donate £100 to the charity, in the hope of raising £10,000.

Spearheading the Photo-Logo 100 Challenge is Treetops volunteer and furry mascot Nicholas Bear. In return for the £100 donation, Nicholas will appear in a photograph promoting the company’s logo and products, which will then be published on the Treetops Hospice website and social media.

Treetops nurses provided more than 1,800 hours of care for Belper patients in their own homes in the last year. These are adults who are in the final stages of a terminal illness and who wish to die at home surrounded by friends and family. Treetops Hospice cares for the entire family and provides a bereavement service as well as Day Care at the main hospice in Risley

The Photo-Logo appeal was launched this week when Nicholas visited the Royal Crown Derby factory on Osmaston Road in Derby to have his picture taken and thank the firm for their £100 donation.

Angela Stafford, corporate fundraiser for Treetops Hospice, said: “The Photo-Logo 100 Challenge is a fun way for businesses to support a local charity. I really would urge others to join and help us raise £10,000 – this money would enable Treetops to deliver so much valuable care.”

Fiona Atkinson, Royal Crown Derby marketing manager, said: “Royal Crown Derby are happy to support Treetops Hospice and to be part of the Photo-Logo 100 Corporate Challenge and help raise the target of £10,000 by donating £100. We hope you all had a good time in the factory with the photo opportunity of Nicholas Bear being creative in assisting the team in gilding a fine bone china Darley Abbey Harlequin plate”.
