Belper man ‘s appeal for return of engagement ring

A Belper man is appealing for help after losing his engagement ring of 50 years.

Geoff Collis, 71, claims the gold signet ring disappeared after he visited the gym at the Breadsall Priory in Morley.

“I can’t believe it’s gone,” said Geoff, a former general manager at Rolls Royce Aerospace.

“After a workout I take my ring off and put it in my bag.

“The day I lost it, I looked in my bag at home and the ring wasn’t there. I’ve searched the bag again and again but it’s definitely gone.”

The 18 ct gold ring has an oval face and is engraved with the initials GC and Geoff believes the ring is still at the Breadsall Priory.

Geoff said: “I’ve asked the staff but nobody’s handed anything in. I remember having it at the gym so I’m sure it’s still there.”

Geoff bought the engagement ring from Eatons in Derby in September 1963 and married his wife Valerie, 72, the following year.

The ring has been with him throughout their marriage and Geoff is devastated by its disappearance.

He said: “It has strong significance to me. I’ve had it for 50 years, it’s a representation of my marriage. I’d love to have it back.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Geoff on 07968099683.
