Belper wins Britain in Bloom award

We’ve just heard the wonderful news that Belper has won Gold and the National Title in Britain in Bloom.

Well done to everyone - the Town Council and workforce, local gardeners, community groups, schools and businesses who have supported the town all the way.

Many of you will have seen Diarmuid Gavins gardening pages in the Daily Mirror last week when Belper was nominated the Best High Street in the Country. Local resident Carol Day took the picture of the Union Flag on the Memorial Gardens and sent it in.

It is likely that many more visitors will now be in our town looking around and sampling the eateries. What a pity though that there will be no public toilets. After parking the car or getting off the bus, the local conveniences are the first thing we all look for when visiting other towns.

Being life long residents of Belper we know how great it is but it good to see the national recognition.

Great News Well Done Everyone.
