A Belper woman is bravely having her hair chopped off to raise funds for a charity close to her heart.

Lorraine Garlow, 53, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in June 2012 but has now made a full recovery.

Now she is set to shave off her locks as she aims to raise £500 for MacMillan Cancer Support.

She said: “It’s taken two and a half years for my hair to grow fully back and it’s been a real, hard slog.

“It’s obviously different getting it cut this time because I’m in control.

“This time I’m making a conscious choice and it will never be as bad as it was before.

“I want to say thank you to MacMillan.

“They gave me fantastic support and I was one of the lucky ones.”

The head-shave will take place at the newly re-opened Thorn Tree Inn on Chesterfield Road on Sunday, August 2 at 3pm.

There will also be a raffle with special prizes and a barbecue.
