Ramblers are being encouraged to pull on their boots for a festival featuring 40 guided walks which gets underway next week.

The Autumn Footprints Amber Valley & Erewash Walking Festival will launch on Saturday, September 13 during an event at Shipley Country Park at 10am.

However, there will also be plenty of strolls and excursions in Belper including a five-mile walk around the town’s nature reserves and the River Derwent on Tuesday, September 23.

The walks, which are partly funded by Amber Valley Borough Council, are all led by knowledgeable local people who are enthusiastic to show off their patch.

Walking Festival Co-ordinator, Marion Farrell (pictured), said: “We hope you take advantage of the opportunity to walk with several different organisations over the sixteen days of the festival”.

Other walks include ‘Exploring West of the Amber Valley and Ecclesbourne Valley’ on Sunday, September 14. And a ‘Swan Lake Walk’ in Horsley Woodhouse the following day, A free guide is available by calling 01773 841483.
