A Belper family have combined their talents to design and launch a game on the global Apple iPhone App Store.

Mooey’s Flight Adventure, is the creation of Mike and Liz Handley, who run Belper-based design consultancy Graphic Results, and their two children Jack and Lucy.

The App is based on an idea pitched by 11-year-old Jack during the summer, based around his sister’s adventures with her teddy bears.

It is a flying game, where players help Mooey to fly his plane across jungles, deserts and snow covered landscapes avoiding all the enemy air obstacles, collecting vehicle upgrades along the way.

It will be the first of many Mooey adventures and is now on sale to the world via the App store.

The family are hoping the app will become a global sensation and replicate some of the success of similar iPhone games already on the market such as Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja.

Mooey also has his own website at, which sells a host of Mooey-branded merchandise, including mugs, aprons, iPhone covers and a 2012 Christmas diary.

Prior to launching the App, the family built up interest in the game on social networking site Twitter - where more than 2,000 people now follow the character Mooey.

Liz Handley, Jack and Lucy’s Mum, said: “We asked Jack and Lucy to come up with some ideas for App as a special, fun project over the year and were blown away with what they came back with.

“Jack imagined he was on Dragons’ Den when he presented his idea drawn on a series of A3 sheets of paper stuck together to make a huge sheet with the whole concept drawn out from beginning to end.

“The first thing he said was, ‘I will answer any questions at the end of my presentation’ - a true professional in the making!”

Dad Mike added: “The App market is a truly global marketplace and we see plenty of potential in Mooey and his ongoing adventures.

“You only have to look at the worldwide success of something like Angry Birds to see just how successful a simple idea can be.

“Perhaps the most important point, though, is that whilst Mooey and Mates has been a family project, we are also teaching Jack and Lucy about business in the real world and we are all having a lot of fun along the way.”
