A LINGERIE company from Belper has won a place on a social media course by bidding for it in a charity auction.
Loving Stuff beat off stiff competition from other businesses after placing the highest bid for the Introductory Social Media Workshop, which was worth £250.
Bidders who took part in the auction were asked to place their offers via Twitter or Facebook with a starting bid of £50.
The auction was hosted by Clay Cross-based marketing firm Brighter Solutions, which ran the course, and raised cash for Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospice.
As an extra gesture of goodwill, Brighter Directions also gave away a free place on their workshop to the hospice to help them use their social media accounts to their full potential and generate positive results for the charity.
The workshop provided the attending businesses with a hands-on training session and thorough understanding of how to use social media sites effectively.
Tracey McKinley, of Loving Stuff, said: “I was thrilled to win the auction and thoroughly enjoyed the social media course. Brighter Directions really are experts in their field and I am already seeing proof that the workshop has helped my business.”
Rebecca Littlewood, of Ashgate Hospice, who attended the course, said: “On behalf of the hospice, I would like to thank Brighter Directions for their generous support.
“The money raised will go towards the care of our patients and their families and what we have learnt from the social media workshop will allow us to spread the word about what we do.”
