Footballer turned ballroom dancing star Robbie Savage waltzed into a Somercotes salon last week to welcome its new manager into her role.
Victoria Hallam, an award-winning hair stylist, has taken up the role of salon manager at Hair and Beauty at Slimming World and was delighted to receive a special visit from the former Derby County player.
She said: “I bet there aren’t many salon managers who can say that they had such a great reception when they started a new job.
“It’s been a very busy first few weeks but an exciting time too – especially when Robbie popped in! I’m looking forward to working with the team to offer our customers an even better experience here at Hair and Beauty and making them look and feel even more amazing!
Victoria joined the team at Hair and Beauty, which is based on Clover Nook Road, from a top Mansfield salon, Mark Leeson’s Body, Hair and Mind, where her talents saw her touring nationally with the Schwarzkopf artistic team.
Her plans for Hair and Beauty include offering new ranges of exclusive, luxury products and treatments that make customers feel pampered and special, including top New York hair-care brand Redken and HD Brows, a treatment loved by A-List celebrities involving a combination of eyebrow threading, tweezing, waxing and tinting. Victoria has recently taken on a new salon junior and hopes to grow the salon team further to take on another beautician and offer apprenticeships to young, aspiring creative people.
Robbie, who featured on the last series of BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing show, was visiting Slimming World’s head office to meet young slimmers aged 15 to 21 at the organisation’s Young Slimmer of the Year 2012 semi-finals. While there he visited the salon, which is based on site but open to the public, to meet Victoria, congratulate her on new role and pick up hair advice.
