PARENTS in Belper are being urged to ensure their child car seats are fitted correctly - after 78 per cent failed a spot check.
Derbyshire County Council teamed up with Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership to inspect seats.
A total of 79 seats were assessed and 62 failed. Drivers with badly-fitted seats were shown how to make them safe.
Partnership chairman Mike Ashworth said: “Seats must be fitted properly to offer maximum protection. It’s vital that motorists who travel with youngsters understand the importance of choosing the right seat and fitting it correctly.”
