A BRAVE teen has parted with her luscious locks in order to pay for the trip of a lifetime.
Sixteen-year-old Darcy Rae, of Bakewell, had her long hair cut into a sleek pixie cut - raising £600 in sponsorship.
The cash will be used to go towards a trip to Malawi next year, on which Darcy will teach youngsters learn English and help build a school.
“I nearly cried when the first lump of hair was cut off, but I didn’t,” she admitted.
“I absolutely love it though.
“Adam at Salon One, in Buxton, did a really excellent job.
“I want to thank him and everyone who sponsored me.”
Afterwards, she sent off her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which will use it to make wigs for children suffering from cancer.
