Belper-based male voice choir The Dalesmen raised a total of more than £1,000 at their latest concert on February 25. The money was raised for local charity Children First Derby. The concert, held at The Grange, Littleover, attracted a capacity audience. See left for more.

The evening was compered by BBC East Midland’s Today reporter, James Roberson, also one of the choir’s patrons.

The Dalesmen, one of the largest male voice choirs in the East Midlands, practice at the Strutts Centre, Belper, on Monday evenings at 7.15 pm and invite men, particularly young ones, who feel they would like to give choral singing a try, to come to a practice session and listen, or if inclined, join in.

The choir’s musical director Paul teaches music at Derby High School and Derby Grammar School and also is involved in music around Derbyshire, particularly at Derby Cathedral. Anyone interested in joining the choir, engaging the Dalesmen for a concert, or perhaps interested in the choir’s future concert calendar, can find information and contact details on the choir’s website at
