Choir is in fine voice

A CONCERT by a Belper choir, which was attended by its 108-year-old president, has raised £740 for charity.

Members of the Dalesmen Male Voice Choir sang their hearts out in aid of the Friends of Babington Hospital.

And there enjoying the concert among a sell-out crowd at Belper’s Strutts Centre was Reg Dean, who is the oldest man in the UK.

Ray Asher, chairman of the Friends, said: “I would like to thank the Dalesmen on behalf of the Friends, patients and staff for the generous gesture in organising the concert.”

The choir’s next charity concert is this Saturday, September 10, at Christ Church, Belper, at 7pm. Joining the Dalesmen will be Wakefield choir The Horbury Singers. Tickets are £5 on the door.
