A CHOIR in Belper is looking forward to the future as it celebrates its first birthday.

The Chevin Singers turns one this month and is going from strength-to-strength.

Choir chairman Viv Scott said: “It is marvellous. We have now got a steady regular attendance of 25 people.

“And we are viable. We can afford to keep going.”

The choir performed at last month’s Shakespeare Festival in Belper. It is also performing at the Royal Derby Hospital on Tuesday, January 24. Viv, a former member of Belper community choir Rough Truffles, said: “A lot of our members have never sung before, so we are building up our confidence.”

Anyone can become a member of the choir, which meets at the Strutts Centre, Derby Road, Belper, on Tuesdays between 10am and 12 midday.
