Choir to sing out in commemoration of the Great War

A Belper choir is looking for new members who can help them commemorate the start of World War One next year.

Belcanto Male Chorus will start rehearsing for the performances shortly and are looking for male voices to come and join them.

The concerts commence at Rolls Royce on Friday July 25, 2014 and then at St Peters Church, Belper on Saturday August 2. Other concerts are also is the planning stages.

Among the group’s repertoire are songs by music legends Elvis, Queen, The Beach Boys, Billy Joel, The Beatles, The Troggs and many others, plus songs from musicals and other traditional choral music.

Experience of singing in a choir or the ability to read music is not a requirement although enthusiasm is.

Rehearsals take place on a Tuesday evening at 7.45pm at Belper Baptist Church on Bridge St, Belper and a special open rehearsal night takes place on July 9 - for which Belcanto are inviting people to come along and listen.
