Come say ‘hello’ to the traders

Hey everyone, hope you’ve all been enjoying the beautiful weather.

This time I will be focusing on two local stallholders who both live in Heanor and only stand on Heanor Market.

The first is Dawn Bull, who owns Fresh and Fruity vegetable stall.

Dawn used to work in TM Fruits on the High Street and after it closed decided to set up a little fruit and veg shop for herself on Ray Street.

However, due to difficult economic times she had to close.

Instead of giving up though Dawn proved to have a great enterprising spirit and started trading on the market on Fridays.

Over the last 12 months she has gradually improved her trade and now stands every Friday, Saturday and Monday.

All of her produce is delivered fresh each morning and she also stocks some locally grown produce from allotment holders in the area.

Her prices are competitive and she always has a warm friendly smile for her customers.

Dawn also helps out the Ripley and Heanor News with an opinion for their The Wider View column!

Our flower stall owner, Phil Measures, also lives in Heanor.

Phil is a landscape gardener by trade and his wife Angela makes flower arrangements and decorations for events such as weddings.

They have been standing on the market for the last six months and always have a beautiful display of colourful flowers and shrubs.

They certainly brighten the place up on a grey dreary day.

Bunches of flowers start from as little as £1 so everyone can afford to treat themselves or perhaps the wife to a pretty display.

They always aim to please and will happily take orders.

Come say hello and support your local traders. A smile and friendly banter is always guaranteed.
