Council finds six taxis without badges

Six taxi drivers in Amber Valley are to receive warnings after being caught with no badge.

Amber Valley Borough Council and Derbyshire Police carried out checks across the area last week.

Fourty-four vehicles were inspected, with two Prohibition Notices issued on vehicles with defective tyres, five drivers advised about minor issues and six drivers having no badge.

However, Chairman of the Council’s Licensing Committee, Councillor Allen King said that overall, the standard was higher than expected.

He said: “The failure rate on these checks was minimal.”
