CCTV pictures released after attempted robbery of elderly woman in Chesterfield

Police have released CCTV pictures of two men they want to trace after the attempted robbery of a handbag from an elderly woman in Chesterfield.

The 74-year-old was approached by two young men who stopped her and demanded her handbag on Victoria Street West at around 5.30pm on June 2.

She refused and they were disturbed by a nearby resident.

Both men ran off towards Church Street West.

The offenders are believed to have been around 5ft 8in with brown hair.

They were both wearing caps and face coverings.

One of the men was wearing trousers while the other was wearing shorts.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “Officers investigating the incident have now released some CCTV images of two people they would like to speak to as part of their inquiries.

“Do you recognise them?”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting reference number 20*279861 and DC Elizabeth Cross.
