Derbyshire Police appeal for witnesses after assault in Wirksworth

Derbyshire Police are appealing for witnesses who witnessed an alleged assault and altercation between two groups of teenagers in Wirksworth.

A 17-year-old boy suffered bruising and cuts to his face during the alleged assault that took place during an altercation between the two groups at around 4.30pm and 5.15pm on Wednesday, July 1 on a dirt track just off Old Lane in Wirksworth, Matlock.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and urges anyone who has any information which could help with their inquiries, including any dashcam or CCTV footage from the Old Lane area to come forward.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and has now been bailed pending further inquiries.
