“In the course of their enquiries colleagues in Romania have found a large amount of property including watches, jewellery, silverware and two distinctive items which we believe originate from the UK.”

The first is a picture of a woman and two children and the second is a note that says:

“Richard – July 18th ‘95

To wake you up and so come home safely, love Mum and Dad. The Global Virgin Challenge.”

Det Sgt Tom Grundey, said: “Often items stolen during burglaries are worth more in memories than in their monetary value – and I am sure this is the case with these two items.

“Our hope is that, with the public’s help, that we can find the owners of these two items and begin to understand where other victims may be located.
