Drink driver taken to hospital after crash in Chesterfield

A drink driver was taken to hospital in the early horus of this morning after a crash in Chesterfield.

Derbyshire Constabulary said the motorist, who crashed outside sofa and carpet store SCS on Markham Road, struck a pedestrian safety barrier at around 2.30am.

The force said the motorist had been ‘out driving around having knocked back a few gins, only to knock down a pedestrian safety barrier’.

The driver, who was times over the drink drive limit, was arrested and taken to hospital.
