Drugged-up Mercedes driver ‘flies by’ police at 90mph in Derbyshire – while watching TV on his phone

A Mercedes driver was arrested and charged with several offences after ‘flying by’ police in Derbyshire at 90mph.

On Wednesday, October 19, the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit reported a Mercedes ‘flying by’ their unmarked vehicle on the M1 at J28 near South Normanton.

A DRPU spokesperson said he was “Not only doing a minimum of 90mph but also watching TV on his mobile phone on the dashboard. Cue some blue lights and the overwhelming smell of cannabis coming from the car!

“Driver refuses drug swipe and arrested for being unfit through drugs. Fails to provide in custody and charged with numerous offences. Passenger dealt with for possession.

“One vehicle equals speeding, drugs, distracted driving and tyre defects.”
