Determined cyclists will be taking on some of the toughest routes across Derbyshire on Sunday to raise thousands for Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospicecare.
The newly-named Heroica Hospice Ride, formerly known as the Flagg Challenge, has been given a re-launch with Bolsover & District Cycling Club and Brampton Manor and introduces a 100-mile route alongside the traditional 50-mile Classic and 25-mile routes.
Events Fundraiser, Charlotte Gratton, says: “It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm within the local community for this year’s Heroica Hospice Ride. We hope everyone taking part has a brilliant time, all whilst raising money for patients and their families.”
Up to 200 riders are set to take part in the event on Sunday, July 17, in an effort to try and break last year’s record number of 138 entrants.
All routes start and finish from Ashgate Hospicecare, on Ashgate Road, at Old Brampton, Chesterfield, and include feed stations, a back-up vehicle, a photographer, goody bags and a Strava link and a soup and roll at the finish.
Cyclists can enter at Ashgate Hospicecare on the day from 7.30am for the 100miler, 8.30am for the 50miler and 9.30am for the 25miler.
Each ride is expected to depart 30minutes after registraion opening times.
Entry is £35 or free if riders commit to raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship money which will go towards helping people in Derbyshire.
The 50-miler goes out to Newbold, Cutthorpe, Baslow, Ashford-in-the-Water, Sheldon, Flagg, Monyash. Parsley Hay, Middleton, Elton, Birchover, Rowsley, Beeley and back in via Baslow and Old Brampton.
The 100-miler includes the same route but includes a detour from Monyash and down to Fenny Bentley before returning to Monyash and back onto the 50-miler.
The 25-miler goes out to Curbar via Baslow and back via Pilsley and Baslow.
