Stargazers in some parts of the region watched a mesmerising display of the Northern Lights last night.
The aurora borealis, which is usually only visible in Scotland, painted the sky green and blue in some parts of the East Midlands yesterday evening (Sunday, March 6)
The phenomenon occurs when charged particles from the sun strike atoms in Earth’s atmosphere, creating a beautiful aurora.
