Drop in for a kind ear

A DROP-in coffee morning at a community project in Belper has just celebrated its first birthday.

The Wednesday morning sessions at the Belper Cottage Project, on Chapel Street, provide locals with a place to go for a chat and a cup of tea and to chill out.

The sessions, which began in May, 2010, are from 10am to midday and are run by Simon and Rachel Phillips.

Simon said: “It is a place where people can sit down, have a cuppa, and talk if they want to. We also have a minister available to talk to people.

“We have been here a year now. We have had our ups and downs, but we are still going strong. We are mainly a listening ear.”

The sessions are free, although they ask for a donation for a drink. “It could be as little as 1p,” he said.
