The second in a series of drop-in support sessions for more than 300 workers affected by the closure of a major Belper textile firm will take place later this week.
Courtaulds UK Ltd, which manufactured garments for leading firms including Pretty Polly, announced the closure of its West Mill site last month.
In response to the crisis, support sessions are being held for workers over the space of three Thursdays, at Strutts Community Centre, on Derby Road, Belper, between 9.30am and noon. The next sessions take place on June 30 and July 7.
A spokesperson for Amber Valley Borough Council said the support sessions “have been put in place to provide continued support to answer questions on benefits, redundancy payments, money advice and also help finding employment, CV skills, IT skills and jobsearch”.
Organisations on site offering support will include: Community Union & Communitas with redundancy-related advice and CV skills; Jobcentre Plus, benefits advice and jobsearch; Derby College, basic IT skills training and web-based job search training; Citizens Advice Bureau, welfare and money advice; National Careers Service, CVs and interview techniques.
Attendees will also have the option of enrolling on short local customer service and IT courses.
