A DRUNKEN man was fined £80 after lying down in a Belper street and shouting and swearing.
The 29-year-old was arrested and charged with a public order offence following the drama on King Street on Tuesday, December 6, at about 6pm.
Police said four people rang them to say the man, who is from Belper, had got out of a van, lay down in the road, and started to shout and swear.
A spokesman for the police said the man admitted he had done wrong. He was subsequently given a fixed penalty notice of £80.
The spokesman added that the man was drunk.
