Pupils mark the Queen’s Jubilee

HUNDREDS of children around Belper will be hanging out the bunting to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Derbyshire County Council has organised street party celebrations and special dinner menus to mark the royal anniversary.

Schools that have signed up will also receive flags, bunting and patriotic red, white and blue balloons to decorate their buildings and help the party go with a swing.

Meanwhile, pupils will be taking part in games, quizzes and craft activities with a royal theme and every child will be presented with a certificate.

Derbyshire County Council Leader Cllr Andrew Lewer said: “I am delighted that so many children are involved in these celebrations which I’m sure they will remember for many years to come.”

Among the local schools are: Crich Junior School; Fritchley CE Aided Primary; Heage Primary; Herbert Strutt Primary; Holbrook C of E Primary; Horsley C of E Primary; Kilburn Infant and Nursery School; Little Eaton Primary; Milford Primary; Horsley Woodhouse Primary; Duffield Meadows Primary and Turnditch Primary.
