Road safety warning

parents are being advised to remind their children of the importance of road safety, especially those soon going back to secondary schools.

Mike Ashworth, chairman of the Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership warned: “11-16 year olds are more at risk of being killed or seriously injured as a pedestrian or cyclist than any other age group.”

The Partnership highlights the increased number of distractions for that age group, including mobile phones and mp3 players, as a reason many may forget the safety tips they learned at primary school.
