A social housing organisation has won £150,000 to turn empty properties in Amber Valley back into family homes.
Owners of empty homes, or those wishing to convert space, can be awarded a grant of up to £10,000 towards the cost of the work.
Futures Homescape will then manage and lease the property for five years. At the end of the five-year period the property is returned to the private landlord to manage. Private landlords who struggled to rent the property will receive a guaranteed income when the home is successfully let.
Julie Heithus, Futures Housing Group’s head of business development, said: “We’re delighted to have won further monies to reduce the problem of empty homes. It’s a waste for homes to be empty when people are in need of quality properties and the scheme gives us even more flexibility to work with private landlords to meet housing demand. We had already secured funding to bring 30 empty homes back into use so this brings the total number of properties we’re working with to 73.”
Anyone wanting to take advantage of this offer should contact the council’s Empty Property Officer on 01773 841340.
