A TALENTED chef who cooked for the Queen last year has been appointed at the Lion Hotel in Belper.
Dean Crews cooked for Her Majesty when she visited Derby in April last year and is best known in Derbyshire as ‘the chef that cooked for the Queen’.
Described as ‘part Jamie’ (the charm) and ‘part Heston (the technique), Dean was previously the executive chef in the kitchens of Cathedral Quarter Hotel in Derby and the Lace Market Hotel in Nottingham.
Now he is turning his gastronomic attention and innovative approach to modern British cooking to Belper and Twenty Four, the pub at the Lion Hotel on Bridge Street.
Dean has designed a new food menu to reflect the fantastic produce of the region and has trained his Belper brigade of chefs — headed up by local talent Stacey Wheeldon — to execute this with consistent precision.
